Do you have a healthy inner voice? When you are struggling, do you talk yourself up like you would a friend or family member you support? Or do you get down on yourself and tell yourself you’re a failure?
The secret to success is to be your own cheerleader. When you’re alone and you’re struggling, you are the only one that can pull you out of it. You won’t always have cheerleaders (although it’s wonderful when we do!), you won’t always be able to rely on outside factors to pull you along to success. You have to be able to count on yourself.
Knowing that you can count on yourself as your own hype-person is the coolest thing. I know that I have what I like to call “plow horse mode”. One foot in front of the other. It doesn’t have to be fast, it doesn’t have to be pretty, it just has to be moving in a direction. I have climbed mountains and run marathons with this mentality. Just. Keep. Going.
No one can make you do those hard things. No one can force you to be motivated. No one can do the work for you. But when your inner voice tells you to suck it up and keep going because you’ve GOT this, you can be a super hero.
When you can talk yourself through a hard time or a challenging circumstance and you can push yourself to keep going, there’s nothing you can’t do. That grit, that inner strength, that internal hype-person – that’s your super power. Develop that person, find that inner toughness and strength to keep going even when it is TERRIBLE, and you can do anything you want to.
Just. Keep. Going.
